Where it gets heavy — and what we carry.

Coached with you by a specialist who works in this program every term. You review and approve everything before it is submitted.

02 Applied projects Every course ends in something you could use at work. We help make it genuinely usable, and rubric-complete.
03 EdD dissertation-in-practice Shorter than a traditional dissertation but still a committee process. We coach it chapter by chapter.

BEFORE YOU ASK US

How American College of Education actually runs.

Are courses live or on your own schedule?

Asynchronous, with deadlines rather than fixed meeting times, which is what makes the format workable alongside a teaching contract. It also means nothing prompts you to appear. The students who struggle are rarely short of ability; they are short of a fixed hour in the week that belongs to the course.

What if I need to pause the program?

There is a formal process and using it protects your standing and your catalogue requirements. Simply stopping is a different administrative event with different consequences. Speak to your advisor before the term you intend to miss, because a planned pause is straightforward and an unplanned absence can require readmission.

How long does the doctoral portion usually take?

Longer than the coursework calendar suggests, because the applied dissertation runs on its own timeline and depends on approvals and on a chair's availability. Coursework durations are published and predictable; the project stage is the variable one. Plan the second half around dependencies rather than around credits.

Is there an in-person requirement?

The programs are built to be completed online, which is much of their appeal to working educators. Field-based or applied components can still require activity in a real setting even where nothing requires travel to a campus. Check what your specific program expects of you locally before assuming everything happens at a keyboard.

Will a course count toward licensure in my state?

That is decided by your state's licensing body, not by the institution, and the answer varies considerably between states. Verify with the state directly before enrolling in a program you are taking specifically for licensure. It is a twenty-minute call that occasionally saves somebody an entire degree.
