FLEXPATH & GUIDEDPATH — CAPELLA UNIVERSITY

Capella, paced properly.

FlexPath rewards speed and punishes drift — one unsubmitted assessment and a whole billing period evaporates. We pace it deliberately: competencies mapped, scoring criteria met before you submit, GuidedPath weeks kept on rhythm.

Where it gets heavy — and what we carry.

Coached with you by a specialist who works in this program every term. You review and approve everything before it is submitted.

01 Scoring, not points "Distinguished" has specific language behind it. We write to the scoring guide row by row, so resubmissions stop being the norm.
02 FlexPath drift The plan slips one week, then two. We set a weekly submission target and hold you to it — the whole reason FlexPath saves money.
03 DNP capstone & practicum Site, preceptor, IRB and the project deliverables all land in the same quarters. We sequence them so they do not collide.
"I passed four courses in one FlexPath billing period with a plan we built in an hour. Before that I had managed one."

BEFORE YOU ASK US

How Capella University actually runs.

Can I move between FlexPath and GuidedPath?

Usually yes, though not in the middle of a period and not without an enrolment counsellor arranging it. Programs differ in which routes they offer at all, and some specialisations are available on only one. Raise it before a period opens rather than partway through, because a switch mid-stream tends to cost you the remainder of what you have already paid for.

What happens to unfinished work when a billing period ends?

It does not disappear. Anything incomplete carries into the next period and you resume where you stopped, having paid again for the time. Nothing is lost academically, which is why the arithmetic before a period opens matters so much: what you overestimate is not the work, it is how many periods the degree will take.

How much earlier coursework typically transfers?

More than most people expect at master's level, and the evaluation is free to request before you commit to anything. Send transcripts early, because the answer changes both your cost and your timeline, and an evaluation that arrives after enrolment cannot undo a course you have already started paying for.

Who do I actually contact once I am enrolled?

There are normally three separate people and students conflate them constantly: an enrolment contact who handles admission, an academic coach or advisor for sequencing and pacing, and your faculty member for anything about the work itself. Sending a question about a scoring guide to the wrong one of those three is the usual cause of a slow answer.

Is there a gap between billing periods?

They run continuously, which is the part that surprises people arriving from a semester system. There is no built-in pause, so any break has to be requested rather than assumed. If you know a heavy stretch at work is coming, ask about the options before it arrives instead of quietly losing a period to it.
