The three-deadline week
Most programs give you one due date a week. This one gives you three, spaced deliberately so the discussion behaves like a conversation: an opening post by the third day, responses by the fifth or sixth, and the week's assignment by the seventh.
The individual pieces are manageable and the repetition is what wears people down. Thirty-three deadlines a term, in every course you are taking, all arriving on the same calendar because everyone is on the same calendar. Do the work but miss the day and the marks vanish anyway, because what the rule tracks is whether you were present across the week rather than the calibre of your paragraph.

Practicum forms decide your start date
For anyone in a clinical track there is a second program running alongside the first, made entirely of paperwork. A preceptor agreement, a site approval, and entries in Meditrek that have to be current and signed to count for anything.
The consequence students underestimate is scheduling. An approval that arrives late does not delay your paperwork, it delays your start, and a missed start can push a practicum an entire quarter. So those forms are completed and then tracked to approval rather than submitted and hoped for. That work runs through the placement desk in parallel with your coursework.
Committee notes that arrive slowly and vaguely
Doctoral students here describe the same experience: three weeks of silence, then a set of comments brief enough to be ambiguous and broad enough to imply a rewrite. Deciphering them costs another week, and by then the next window has moved.

The quarter is generous by online standards, which cuts both ways. There is real room to recover from a bad fortnight, and there is also enough room to lose a month without it feeling like an emergency.

Can you cover only the discussions?
Yes, and a great many Walden students order exactly that. Two of the three weekly deadlines are the board, which makes it the layer that repeats hardest for the smallest share of the grade. Order it by the week if you like, a single brutal one included, and nothing extends past what you asked for.
Does a day-four post still count?
The participation requirement records it as missed, and no amount of quality in the post buys it back, because attendance across the week is the thing under measurement. Faculty differ in how heavily that is penalised, so read your own course policy. The practical fix is writing on day two, which gets easier once the reading moves earlier too.
Do you complete Meditrek entries?
The record is kept current and correctly formatted and the signatures behind it are pursued, alongside finding a site and getting the agreement executed. Time you did not personally spend on site is never entered, and asking for it is the single request that gets refused on the spot. A falsified practicum record ends nursing programs outright.
My chair has gone quiet for a month. Can you help?
Yes, and this is common enough that there is a routine for it. Silence usually means a busy quarter rather than a problem with your work. What helps is sending something short and specific rather than waiting, because a chair with a two-page question answers faster than a chair with a chapter. Your mentor drafts that with you.
